let’s run for those who can’t …
let’s end polio now.

Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview

runs for this cause,
At the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon
Sunday 17th January 2010
When Rotary began its eradication work, polio had infected more than 350,000 children annually. In 2009, the cases have dropped to less than 2,000 worldwide.
After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradication this tenacious disease, which was slashed by more than 99 %.
But still 1 % continues to paralyze 4 countries even today – Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria and India.
A strong push is needed now, to root it out once and for all. If we let go now, it would again invite a polio resurgence that would condemn millions of children to lifelong paralysis in the years ahead.
We at Bay View are doing our bit to run this last lap and reach the finish line to end polio. We have pledged to contribute RS: 92,000 (USD $2,000) for the polio eradication initiative by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The total collections will directly support immunization campaigns.
Help us achieve a polio free world because as long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, all children, wherever they live, will remain at risk.
Please forward this to friends, family and colleagues and ask them to support our run by donating to the good cause chosen by us. You have the option to pledge as much or as little as you want to…
Please give your contributions in favour of ‘Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview Charitable Trust’ and send it to Rtn. Anita Shantaram
